Expanding the Modes of Performing and Being Through Improvisation
June 2014 - August 2015
Canada, England, France, Germany, Belgium, Scotland, Australia
Becoming a traveler, artist, and wheelchair-user in one year required me to leave my plans, embrace the moment, and improvise everything. Exploring play, vulnerability, authenticity, response and responsibility via performance, I snowballed out from initial improv connections and into the related fields of clown, masks, puppetry, and contemporary dance. In collaboration with the wise, insightful friends I made along the way, this year was a practice in letting go and opening up, creating something from nothing and unfolding possibility in everything!
This 13-month project was generously sponsored by the Thomas J Watson Foundation.
