My Watson year has come to a close!
So...what comes next?

I hope to continue learning and practicing the arts as whole-heartedly and with as little career or institution-based pressure as possible, which I know will be a challenge. This is my enthusiastic experiment in how to do that, and I'm willing to create a messy, varied, dynamic mixture of work, play, and training to make it happen! I am also on the lookout for a flexible part-time job in Santa Cruz right now, if anyone has any ideas. :)

I'd like to explore and in a few cases, further  some training I have in body-based performance as well as healing techniques, so if you or anyone you know might be interested in mentoring me or collaborating in the fields of contemporary dance (especially but not limited to wheelchair dance), clown / physical theatre, adaptive yoga, alexander technique, massage, or other related practices, I would love to hear from you. On a related but different note, I would also really like to learn American Sign Language, ukulele, puppetry, theatre lighting, adobe illustrator, how to give good haircuts -- and about a million other things!

I can offer some skills for trade or hire:

This is such a joy! I've spent lots of time working with kids and makin' faces, and am happy to paint grown-ups too. If you've got a party, project, production or other gathering you want painting for please feel free to get in touch! I have pricing and info about this at www.haleybrown.org

*This photo was taken by Santa Cruz photographer Molly Gilholm. The model is my sister, Genna Brown!

This Fall I'm trying out the process of selling my art! I am currently available for projects. I work primarily in line drawings and watercolor pencils, but am enthusiastic about exploring other mediums. If you haven't already, feel free to check out my portfolio

I'd be honored help you illustrate a book, make a poster, or design a tattoo – get in touch if you have an idea and we'll figure something out! I'm also making and selling a 2016 calendar “The Coping Calendar,” which you can read about here. It will be available in October 2015.

This is a blast – I LOVE learning about humans, asking them questions, and sending them on creative adventures to discover the stories that make them feel powerful and heard. Before going abroad, I created a 6-session workshop in Personal Narrative for high school juniors working on their college essays, and have also tutored individual students in this area. If you or someone you know might like support in shaping a story, let's chat!

One of my life goals is to create a set of masks for a school, theatre, or production... maybe yours?! Let me know if you're looking for masks and perhaps we can collaborate!

I had the privilege of being introduced to papier mache mask making by Steve Jarrand of the Loose Moose Theatre in Calgary, Canada. (Such a wonderful teacher and artist!). The photo above is from a workshop he taught last summer. Can you guess which mask is mine?

I'll be the first to admit that I'm new to this, but I would love the chance to research and practice it more and I feel confident that with enough time, I could make you a sweet set. :)

Although I'm still far from an "expert," I've picked up some knowledge and observations about improv and performance this year, and I'd be more than happy to share that with you or your group!

I am open to coaching or designing custom workshops for improv or theatre groups or any interested parties. Let's party!

I'm also hoping to start up a twice-weekly training group in the Seidenstein method for clown and creativity, probably at the Louden Nelson Community Center in Santa Cruz this Fall. Let me know if you're interested or want more information!
